Storm Lake, IA (KICD)– The Iowa Geological Survey will be presenting some newly discovered information on Wednesday on how glacier movement led to the formation of Storm Lake.

Geologist Phil Kerr tells KICD News the discoveries made started with a project to map the Outlet Creek watershed which itself is unique.

Kerr says the findings, which will be discussed further during the presentation, have led to a theory that Storm Lake’s formation is directly tied to past ice sheets that descended into Iowa from the north.

So, what can someone attending this presentation expect to learn?

“The Glacial History of Storm Lake” will be presented Wednesday at 7 p.m. at Buena Vista University’s Estelle Siebens Science Center. The free talk is made possible by the Storm Lake 150th Celebration, Sanford Museum and Planetarium, Buena Vista University and the BV County Historical Society.
