Milford, IA (KICD)– A group working on a potential housing project on the west side of Milford is starting to look from a new angle that could involve Okoboji Schools having a space to expand.

Drew Hage (Haggie) is a member of the Strategic Doing Committee for the South Okoboji Development. He tells KICD News the conversation on this project began more than a year ago with a proposal to add housing and maybe a multiple use sports complex in the area of the Milford Airport. One possible change since then includes having a new elementary building for Okoboji Community Schools be a part of the development.

Hage notes this is just one possibility of how the project could develop with the committee itself breaking into different pieces to look at the feasibility of other options and help determine next steps.

KICD News will dive more into the potential numbers surrounding this proposal next week, but Haggie notes the initial phase of development could include 53 housing units that over a span of twenty years would add an estimated 2.6 million dollars in tax revenue for the City of Milford.
