Estherville, IA (KICD) — The Estherville City Council will hold a public hearing on the community’s fireworks rules Monday. City Administrator Penny Clayton says they get complaints from pet owners, veterans suffering from Post Traumatic Stress, and just neighbors who are trying to sleep.

The entire city council agrees there’s a problem but isn’t sure how to proceed.

Several city councils in the KICD Broadcast area would like to ban the sale of fireworks, but that’s not an option under state law.
