Spirit Lake, IA (KICD)– The board room in the Dickinson County Courthouse was nearly at capacity Tuesday morning as a request was brought to the Board of Supervisors to put a stop to the building of wind turbines.

Kristine VanKleek is a resident of rural Milford is asking for a change to county ordinance for health and safety reasons for those living in unincorporated parts of the county.

VanKleek is further asking that pause be put in place to stop wind projects from going through until the ordinance can be updated.

No formal action was taken on the request on Tuesday with Chairman Bill Leupold noting the Planning and Zoning Commission is currently reviewing the request and he does not feel it would be right for the Board of Supervisors to move forward without a proper recommendation.
