Aurelia Garage Damaged in Sunday Morning Fire

Aurelia, IA (KICD)– A Cherokee County garage was damaged by fire early Sunday morning.

Fire crews were called to the 600 block of Walnut Street in Aurelia around 3:45 where the three-car, detached garage was found burning.

Firefighters immediately went to work knocking down the flames using an interior attack with the blaze being brought under control within a few minutes, but responders spent about an hour and a half on scene.

The interior of the garage is said to have sustained heavy smoke and fire damage but no injuries were reported. A possible cause for the fire has not been released.
